On this perfect summer’s day

Clear blue skies today,
I lay alone in bed;
Looking for inspiration
after a dreamless nights rest.

Slow music on my radio;
It all sounds the same;
Bored in my coffin,
I stay wishing for rain.

Base guitar in my head,
blues rhythm slow,
beats from a distant double bass,
in my mind they grow.

This dawn of contentment,
clear and peaceful and pleasant;
None to turn me on,
nothing for life to resent.

There’s nothing today to write for,
no one in my arms,
alone in my covers,
resetting my alarms.

While I wonder what to do?
Through wandering thoughts of you.
I wake and walk across,
to the bar for a beer or two.

Looking for a new story to inspire me.
On this perfect summer’s day.
